Humans

I wanted to include a page about the human connection with Nature. It seems like in ancient cultures, Nature was revered and learned from and an integral part of everyday lives. In Western society and in certain mentalities, Nature is regarded as something to be conquered and that humans are superior. Instead humans need to take responsibility for the gift that we have of being able to transform the landscape. Most often the consequences of human action isn't acknowledged, material or monetary gain being favoured. The blessing in the recent environmental concerns are that slowly we see that our power to destroy must be kept in check to ensure the Earth's health and our own survival.

I highly recommend checking out the Joseph Campbell DVD. He talks about the Power of Myth and shows how through all cultures, there have been myths told that teach us about life, about ourselves and how to transform our consciousness. I've also included some interesting ancient references to Nature, like the Nazca Lines in Peru - aerial artwork in animal forms, and the Lascaux cave paintings.

We cannot separate the human from Nature/The Earth. We came from the Earth and we will die to the Earth. Gaia is our Earth Mother and home!
