Insects

Insects are often resisted and detested. I once pulled a divination card with the question, "What is it that mosquitoes learn in relation to humans?” The answer was - rejection. Their bodies often look alien and perhaps we associate emotionlessness to the insect. However, if you step back from yourself to study the life of an insect you will be in awe.

Imagine that most insects have a very short lifespan - often mere days. Yet their vitality is so strong that they keep their species thriving. In the garden insects are the best indicators of imbalance and poor health of the garden. What a revelation to regard aphids as messengers of imbalance! Insects play a vital role in life - bees in pollination, wasps and dragonflies in keeping other insect populations down. Flies break down waste - their maggots eat feces and decompose bodies. Birds and other animals eat insects.

I want to honour the insect on this page in all their glory and strangeness. It's interesting to communicate with the life force of insects - they are so different from humans yet have interesting things to teach us.
